The prophet Jeremiah spoke to a people who had wandered far from God. His counsel was not to look for novelty, but to seek truth by finding the ancient path and walking in it. This is the calling of the Church in every age. It is our calling here.

Welcome to the Greek Orthodox Missionary Archdiocese of America G.O.C..

We are a community of Orthodox Christians who have chosen to walk the ancient path: the path of the Holy Apostles, the Holy Fathers, the Seven Ecumenical Councils, and the unbroken liturgical and ascetic tradition of the Church of Christ. In a world moving ever faster away from its roots, we have planted ourselves firmly in that inheritance and invite you to do the same.

Whether you have been Orthodox all your life and seek a community faithful to the tradition you love, are returning to the Church after a long absence, or have never set foot in an Orthodox church yet feel drawn by something you cannot yet name, you are welcome here. If you are new, begin by attending the Divine Liturgy or Vespers, then speak with a priest or parishioner who can help you take your next step. The ancient path is not a museum exhibit or relic of the past. It is a living road, walked by living people, leading to the living God. It is walked in the Divine Liturgy, fasting and prayer, the monastic life, the joy of the Resurrection, and the therapy of confession. This is a path that transforms.

We do not offer novelty, fashion, or convenience. We offer what the Church has always offered: the Faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3), the Mysteries of the Body and Blood of Christ, the guidance of the Holy Fathers, and the companionship of the saints in every age. We hold to the traditional Julian Calendar and the ancient Paschalion, which preserve the unity of the Church’s liturgical life and the celebration of the holy feasts as handed down through centuries. For us, the calendar is not only a measure of time but a sign of continuity and faithfulness to the tradition the Church has received. We hold to the full canonical and liturgical inheritance of the Orthodox Church not out of stubbornness but out of love for what God has entrusted to us.

Come and see. Come to the Divine Liturgy, where the veil between heaven and earth grows thin. Come to the Vespers, where the day is offered back to God at its close. If you are new, begin by coming to worship and asking for guidance. Come with your questions, your doubts, your grief, and your longing. The doors of this Church are open, the cup is full, and the ancient path is still here waiting to be walked.

Who We Are

The Greek Orthodox Missionary Archdiocese of America is part of the Genuine Orthodox Church, a communion of Autocephalous and Autonomous Churches that maintain the unbroken continuity of the historic Orthodox Faith.

In 1924, the Ecumenical Patriarchate introduced the Revised Julian (Gregorian) Calendar into the liturgical life of several Orthodox churches without the authority of an Ecumenical Council. Many faithful bishops, clergy, and laypeople, especially in Greece, refused this change, seeing it as an unjustifiable departure from the canonical and patristic tradition. These Christians became known as the Greek Old Calendarists (G.O.C.), and our Archdiocese descends from this community of confessor-bishops and their flocks.

We are not a sect, schism, or novelty. We preserve the Orthodox Church as it existed before the calendar change, holding the same Apostolic Succession—a direct line of spiritual and pastoral continuity from the Holy Apostles through every generation of bishops—the same Ecumenical Councils, Holy Canons, and liturgical and ascetic tradition of the Holy Fathers. We do not participate in the pan-heresy of Ecumenism and remain faithful to the confession of our fathers.

Our Archbishop

The Greek Orthodox Missionary Archdiocese of America is shepherded by His Beatitude Archbishop Michael, who was unanimously elected as the third Archbishop of this Archdiocese on June 12, 2008.

Archbishop Michael entered monastic life on Mount Athos at the age of seventeen and has devoted his entire life to God, the Church, and the salvation of souls. He is the founder of the Holy Monastery of the Holy Archangels in Keratea, Attica, Greece, which serves as the Greek seat of the Archdiocese and a center of monastic and liturgical life. He is assisted by the Holy Synod of the Archdiocese, whose bishops serve communities across North America, Greece, and Australia.

Under his direction, the Archdiocese continues to grow in faith, in pastoral care, and in its witness to the Orthodox Christian tradition.

Our parishes and monasteries offer the full liturgical and sacramental life of the Orthodox Church:

The Divine Liturgy, celebrated according to the traditional Byzantine rite, is offered on Sundays and feast days in both Greek and English. All liturgical services are available in English to welcome and support inquirers and faithful who do not speak Greek, ensuring everyone can participate fully.

The Holy Mysteries — Baptism, Chrismation, Holy Communion, Confession, Holy Unction, Marriage, and Holy Orders, administered in the fullness of canonical Orthodox tradition.
